Some tenets of traditional religions simply don’t conform to observed and/or verifiable or falsifiable aspects of the physical world.
Religions include many things: celebrations of happy events from sacred history; days for fasting and feasting; going to places of pilgrimage; remembering persons and events in its lore; periodic getting together as a community; collective sharing of joys and sorrows; singing and chanting praises of God: All these bring meaning and purpose to human existence and communities.
All these are neither right nor wrong, and have nothing to do with Science.
Religion and Science diverge when a religion’s visions of cosmogenesis and anthropogenesis, of the rainbow and the centrality of the earth and humans in the universe are considerably different from what science has managed to establish rigorously in consistent and coherent ways through observation and experimentation, instrumentation and mathematics.
