Religions are like ancient grand mansions with colorful furniture and beautiful gardens that provide shelter and comfort to countless people.
But most of the mansions have accumulated too much dust and dirt and cobwebs, and too many weeds and poison ivies in the garden.
Religions don’t deserve to be demolished, but many of them are in bad need of new curtains, more timely wall paintings, fresh furniture and more appropriate decorations. The gardens need to be weeded.
So, even if I could, I would not get rid of these precious time-honored legacies of human culture.
