WHEN THE WORLD ENDS

No one  can say with  certainty what will be the cause for the end of the world. All we may be sure of is that the same laws of nature that sustain the world will also lead to its end.

Religions speak of the end of yugas  the apocalypse, and other modes by which it will all come to an end.

Nineteenth century physics proclaimed through Lord Kelvin and later through  Rudolf Clausius that the Second Law of Thermodynamics will lead the world to a Heat Death (Warmetod).

The world  will keep on transforming ceaselessly, slowly and steadily, sometimes slowly in some places, fast and abruptly at other times in other places, Most of these changes are beyond our control, though we can record and predict some of them.

Astrophysics assures us that a few billion years from now our glorious sun that sustains life here below will begin to fade so slowly. Then in one monstrous swell and sweep it may gobble our globe and that will be climax of the human tragi-comedy. One consolation is that we will not be there when the last act of the drama of life on earth is performed. Current physics calls this the Big Rip, and has its own versions of the terminus. Current physics says it all depends on the Cosmological Constant, and that the Universe may eventually reach absolute zero, and may even re-emerge due to some quantum fluctuations. When at last the Universe ceases to palpitate there will be Cosmic stillness forever Real Peace at last!
