1 INTRODUCTION
As biological entities we eat and drink, rejoice and reproduce. As cultural beings we live and interact in a framework of values and worldviews. Irrespective of their source, our values and worldviews may also change with time, indeed they often do. For the better or for the worse, depending on how one evaluates these.
Not many of us formulate our own values and worldviews. For most people these are formed by a number of external factors such as upbringing, education, the books one reads, the news to which one is exposed, the religion one is indoctrinated into or subscribes to, and other factors, over some of which one may have control.
Enlightenment is a significant positive framework from which one’s perspectives on many aspects and issues relating to life and society, culture and politics, religion and worldview are formulated.
