This is unlikely to happen. The problems and troubles that we are facing today have more global effects, and are more widely reported. But they are relatively meager compared to the rape and rampage, conquests and cruelties engaged in by many groups in former centuries, and quite a few in our own times.
My hope is that we will eventually come together in a spirit of cooperation and brotherhood.
We have come together in many contexts, such as: the UNO, UNESCO, WHO, ILO, WTO, Parliament of World Religions, Médecins sans frontières, Interfaith groups in many parts of the world. They are not perfect, but they are steps in the positive direction.
Quite possibly, we will continue warring among ourselves until extinction by natural disaster.
Many subgroups of humanity will also continue warring among themselves, until religious fanaticism is extinguished, social justice becomes global, and economic equality is universal. Many will also be making every effort to terminate, avert, and fight wars.
Major natural disasters affecting hundreds of thousands of people have been part of terrestrial physical conditions since time immemorial. One of them (an asteroid) is believed to have destroyed dinosaurs, leading to the emergence of humanoids.
With all that, one can never be sure of humanity’s future.
