“It’s the December month for Winter!
Season of white and snow.”
“But in November too, there was this stuff,
As I’m sure you know.”
“It’s the joyous month when Santa comes,
With toys and gifts on sale!”
“Now, my friend, you surely know
That Santa’s but a tale.”
“We’ll have Christmas soon, trees brightly lit
Carrols we all will sing.”
“But for Yusuf, Ben, and Gopal
These things mean not a thing.”
“Oh, December has come,
days will now be cold.
We’ll need coats to go outside.”
“Not if you live in Peru or Perth,
Or in Brazil take a ride.”
“What do you want me to say, my friend,
If all I say is wrong?
There’s no Christmas, there’s no snow,
there is no joy or song?”
“You aren’t wrong, no not at all.
But your truths are only for some.
All truths that touch the human heart,
never absolute become.
“December sure is all you say:
For carols and snow, I bet.
But others have other seasons too:
Thiswe should never forget.
“The apparent path of the sun above
changes this day, we find.
This truth touches no heart or soul.
It is truth of the scientific kind.”
“I care not for those truths of science,
when I sing and dance and pray.
Come, join me for love and peace.
That’s what enlightened people must say!”
