THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

The world is good, and the people are good,

And we are all good fellows together.

John O’Keefe (1747 – 1833) in Sprigs of Laurel, A Comic Opera.

No matter where or  in which period of history, there are times when people are unhappy or despondent. Those are times when we need words and attitudes to cheer us up.

Often, it is not the truth-content of the words that is important, but their capacity to make us feel good.
